2009 News

October 28, 2009 - The Personal Information Protection Amendment Act, 2009 (Bill 54) was introduced in the Legislature on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 (see news release). The proposed changes to the Act will clarify and strengthen existing protections for Albertans' personal information and will keep the legislation in line with emerging business practices. June 4, 2009 - Registrations are now being accepted for the PIPA Conference 2009 to be held October 15-16, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver, B.C. The conference theme, Solving the Privacy Puzzle, focuses on practical, real-world problems and solutions. This forum offers an excellent opportunity to hear from privacy regulators, stakeholders, and from business experts around the globe about managing personal information in the electronic age. February 19, 2009 - The Access and Privacy 2009 conference will be held June 10-12, 2009 at the Edmonton Marriott River Cree Resort. The conference program will feature interactive workshops, insightful keynote and plenary speakers and breakout sessions on a number of different topics.
